THE City of Busselton council have awarded the tender to construct a new multi-user sports pavilion at Barnard Park, east of the Busselton Foreshore, to Innovest Construction.
Works are scheduled to commence next month with completion forecast for mid-2017.
The pavilion marks stage two in the development of a new district-level sporting precinct on the Busselton Foreshore and is a key component of the Busselton Foreshore Masterplan.
Once complete the new pavilion will provide shared facilities for local sporting groups including junior rugby, cricket, soccer, as well as major events like Ironman.
Set between the two newly refurbished ovals on Milne Street, the pavilion will provide function space, a commercial kitchen and bar facilities, public ablutions, male and female change rooms, shared office space and storage.
City of Busselton Mayor Grant Henley said the council were very excited to be embarking on the next stage of the Barnard Park Sporting Precinct development.
“This new pavilion will be a fabulous community asset for both locals and visiting sports people,” he said. “Not only will it encourage healthy and active lifestyles, it will also be a significant regional draw-card benefiting local business.”
