DUNSBOROUGH Bowling Club were hosted by Cowaramup in the men’s Division One pennant game in last week’s fine weather.
This season, the length of the Leeuwin League men’s pennant competition was cut by a round so clubs can not afford to lose a game.
With a poor start to the season, the Dunsborough side knew they had to win all games and the aggregate to keep their final chances alive.
The team skipped by Geoff Benn started and ended their game against Keith Simmonds’ side extremely well, with Cowaramup not really having any hint of a win, eventually losing 12-29.
However Colin Mee and his team took it up to Ed Hoemburg and it looked like an upset was in the making.
After being behind all game, the Dunsborough team held five shots on the 14th end which leveled the score but turned the game around.
From there, the team accelerated their efforts and won the game 24-15.
The third Dunsborough team skipped by Mike Brown had a scare on the 20th end when Cowaramup held five shots and were holding six on the last end.
Brown managed the shot of the day to play a magnificent draw shot with his last bowl cutting the margin by five.
This allowed Cowaramup to win the last end by one but lose the match by seven.
While winning all three games and taking the aggregate the Dunsborough side had to work hard for their win. They will need to play at a superior level to ensure a play-off in the final tournament.
