Step aside Daenerys Targaryen, there's a new mother of dragons in town ... well margarine dragons, anyway.
That's after Perth chef Angela Stanfield crafted a 28-kilogram dragon sculpture made entirely from the sandwich underlay - to scoop a bronze medal at the culinary Olympics.
In the biggest cook-off in the world, Miss Stanfield carved what was just her second ever attempt at the unique art, which curried favour with the judging panel at the World IKA Culinary Olympics in Germany.
The 20-year-old is one of seven WA chefs who travelled to the event with the WA Youth Culinary team, to compete alongside the world's best and brightest - in a spread of events.
Sculptures are judged based on scale, proportion, imperfections, how well the sculpture matches the description provided and the amount of support the sculptures have within.
Team Manager Patrick O'Brien said margarine sculpting was a rare art form in Australia, but was popular elsewhere around the globe.
"It is extremely popular in Asia and extremely popular in Europe," he said.
"In all honestly, she is over the moon, and we are for her too.
"She's been working 14-15 hours a day, then on the last day, on Friday, she worked from 8am in the morning until we picked her up at 4am," Mr O'Brien said.
The margarine used is typically for pastry cooking, with a lower melting range than others.
