Busselton’s Relay for Life event which raises money for the Cancer Council will be held on April 1 next year and registrations to nominate teams are open.
Relay for Life is a fun overnight experience that raises funds for the Cancer Council’s research, prevention, information and support services.
It is also a chance for the community to recognise and celebrate cancer survivors, patients, their carers, remember loved ones lost to cancer and raise money to help save more lives.
Cancer survivor Jeni Henderson said she became involved with the event once it began in WA.
Ms Henderson said she was diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2013 and her daughter formed a family team for Busselton’s first event.
“Everyone there has a connection to cancer, there is a survivor’s march for the first lap then morning tea,” she said.
“It was the first time I had been in a situation where people could openly speak about cancer.”
