BROADWATER Pharmacy staff have been left shaken after a man armed with a machete entered their store demanding for drugs on Monday evening.
Police report the man entered the store, situated on the corner of Holgate Road and Bussell Highway at about 6pm and was carrying a large Billabong bag.
Pharmacist manager Michael Hewson said staff and customers were present when the armed male, fully clothed, wearing a wig and balaclava entered the store and demanded drugs from the safe.
“He spoke in a calm way and told us to do what we were told,” Mr Hewson said.
“He was dressed a bit silly and we thought it was a prank. We handed him the drugs and some of our customers watched him running off towards the beach. He must’ve had his getaway planned.
“Thankfully none of the customers or staff were harmed, they’re just a bit shaken.”
Police urge anyone with information to come forward or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
