The Dunsborough Bowling Club was in the middle of finalising many championship events. One of which was the ladies pairs.
This was another championship event which ran over two weeks as a round robin tournament. The close of the first day saw three teams sitting tightly together and it was proved that the second day would bring in the champion team.
Good fortune found that the club captain had arranged for the games on the second day of play to start a little early as the scorching heat arrived and attacked the bowlers relentlessly around midday. It was a welcome relief at the close of the games to enter to cool club house where the winners were announced.
It proved to be a close competition and result. Last year’s winning pair of Sue Chester and Sharon Sharpe took the honours once more after a count back from Maureen Hines and Merle Holmes. Both teams shared winning points and shots up with the deciding verdict having to be on which team won most ends. Chester and Sharpe had one more than their opposition.
