These conditions look set to continue with plenty of easterly winds and more swell than normal for this time of year.
Longboarding competitors will be flocking in droves to Yallingup this week with round one of the state titles being run over three full days from Friday to Sunday.
Conditions look set to be nothing short of epic, with a large swell and clean winds on the horizon.
The longboard fraternity has a large, passionate following and history in WA with many of the top riders having emerged from Dunsborough and Yallingup.
The general promotion of the sports over time, combined with a solid and well organised state and club structure, has contributed to the consistent increases in its popularity and strong competition numbers.
This years competition schedule will travel to some of the best longboard locations in the state including Yallingup and Mandurah.
Competitors will be gunning for a place in the WA state team to take part in the Australian Longboard Titles at the Australian Surf Festival in the Tweed Shire, NSW from Friday July 28 to Monday, August 14 this year.
There will be a wide range of divisions from under 18 to over 65’s.
Forecast: It is looking great with SE winds and a two metre swell on Thursday. Friday will bring gusty ESE winds and a rising 3m south swell. Easterly winds on Saturday with an easing 2.5m swell while Sunday will be much smaller at 1.5m and clean offshore winds.
