The RAC Rescue Helicopter was sent to the scene of a serious car accident along the Bussell Highway near Capel on Saturday afternoon.
A person was airlifted to Royal Perth Hospital in a serious condition following the accident, said a St John Ambulance spokesperson.
One vehicle involved in the accident burst into flames at the scene.
A person who was in the area at the time, Jake Mangini, told the Mail a vehicle had been travelling on the wrong side of the road shortly before the accident.
Mr Mangini said he was travelling along Layman Road with his wife and children when they saw a vehicle overtaking another ahead of them.
He said the car did not return to the left lane and he had been forced to swerve off the road to avoid a collision.
“Right after the incident I contacted police to notify them about what happened and where the car was heading.”
Police are investigating whether the incidents are connected.
