Aravina Estate’s restaurant, overlooking the stunning grounds of the Yallingup winery, has received a fresh new makeover celebrating some of the region’s greatest stories.
Curated over a number of years by owner Steve Tobin, the newest collection of memorabilia to grace the walls of the popular venue reflect the golden age of surfing in the South West, particularly in Aravina’s own backyard.
Aravina Estate marketing manager Cassandra Camerer-Charlick welcomed champion surfer and Yallingup local Taj Burrow to the estate last week for a visit.
Burrows checked out the new look restaurant and Ms Camerer-Charlick said the surfing legend was impressed by the effort to capture the story of the sport.
“Burrows is a huge supporter of Aravina Estate,” she said.
“We were so proud to have him celebrate his retirement from the tour last year after the Margaret River Pro and he particularly showed an interest in the new fit out, being a tribute to local surfing.”
Ms Camerer-Charlick said the collection not only celebrated the region’s surf history with an array of vintage boards, posters and other collector’s items, but echoed a new approach to the estate’s dining and beverage options.
“We are very excited to be launching our new menu in March, which will offer another way for visitors to experience the amazing food created by our talented chefs,” she said.
“Along with new dishes, we are relaxing the style of the menu so that people can make a decision to dine, or share a plate or two, without having to commit to a full two course meal.”
Ms Camerer-Charlick said while the menu and drink options would expand and relax to allow a more versatile style of dining at Aravina, the degustation and “special occasion” dining experiences would still be a cornerstone of the venue.
“Of course there is a high level of quality, service and presentation which will continue,” she said.
“This new approach fits so well with the local Yallingup way of life, as well as tourists who aren’t necessarily inclined to plan their day around a big lunch or dinner.
“The share plate, small plate concept will allow people to have a glass of wine and a smaller bite to eat, or start with a share plate and then meander into the afternoon for as long as they like, taking the time to appreciate the entire estate.”
The new look restaurant and collection is open now seven days a week from 11.30am to 3.30pm at 61 Thornton Road, Yallingup.
The property was established in 1986 under the original name Amberley Estate.
