WAFL clubs East Perth and South Fremantle are set to face off in a league game in Busselton in July.
The WA Football Commission made the announcement today after signing a deal with the Department of Sport and Recreation to access the Country Sports Enrichment Scheme.
Another regional game will be played in Esperance between Subiaco and Claremont.
The Busselton game, which will be played at Sir Stewart Bovell Park on July 22, will be officially hosted by the South West Football League.
The competing teams are both expected to figure prominently in this season’s competition, with South Fremantle losing out in last year’s preliminary final.
East Perth is aligned to the West Coast Eagles, meaning it will have the use of all Eagles players who aren’t required for AFL duty that weekend.
Their match in Esperance will be the second official WAFL game played in the town. The previous match was played between East Perth and Swan Districts in 2003 and finished in a draw.
