Collie-Preston seat summary
Labor’s Mick Murray has held the seat of Collie-Preston since 2001, when he dislodged doctor and Nationals MP Hilda Turnbull.
Mr Murray has survived in the marginal seat against the odds and is expected to face a tough battle to keep his job, with a strong One Nation vote expected to flow to Liberal Elysia Harverson.
Ms Harverson has run a strong campaign in areas that have come into the seat after a redistribution of its boundaries where Mr Murray has not established a following.
The Nationals are also considered an outside chance, but will not be collecting preferences from One Nation. Their candidate in the seat is Monique Warnock.
The Nationals hit out at their Liberal coalition partners only days before the election, accusing them of cutting Royalties for Regions, an accusation Premier Colin Barnett denied.
Mr Murray is the favourite with bookmakers and is paying $1.22 against Ms Harverson’s $5.50.
