Warren-Blackwood seat summary
The Nationals and the Liberal party are vying for the Warren-Blackwood electorate, which covers the south-west coast from Margaret River to Denmark and the inland rural areas.
Nationals’ Terry Redman has held the seat since 2013, holding the electorate of Stirling from 2005-2008 and Blackwood-Stirling from 2008-2013, before a redistribution created Warren-Blackwood.
With the changes to the electorate boundaries, Warren-Blackwood shifted west, gaining the Plantagenet council and some surrounding areas from Wagin and losing the Donnybrook-Balingup council area to Collie-Preston.
The electorate boundaries also expanded into an area near Margaret River, taking further parts from Vasse.
Mr Redman has been campaigning on tourism, hospitality and business in Margaret River as well as the new perimeter road, and main street upgrades.
Tension inside the Coalition has also been a hallmark of the 2017 campaign, after the Liberals chose to preference One Nation ahead of the Nationals. Only days before polling was due to open, The Nationals hit out at their Liberal coalition partners, accusing them of cutting Royalties for Regions, an accusation Premier Colin Barnett denied.
Mr Redman is the odds-on favourite to take out the Warren-Blackwood, with bookmakers paying $1.10 for the win while his nearest rival, Liberal Ross Woodhouse, is paying $6.
