Vasse MP Libby Mettam’s route to victory came with an insurmountable lead, analysts calling her ability to retain the seat early on in the piece.
With 51.16 per cent of the vote counted, the Liberals candidate held 45.8 per cent of the vote in her favour with Labor candidate Wes Hartley trailing with 20.3 per cent of the vote.
Nationals candidate Peter Gordon follows with 18.15 per cent and Greens candidate Luke O’ Connell with 15.73 per cent.
Ms Mettam won the seat of Vasse in the 2014 by-election after Troy Buswell resigned.
She thanked her campaign staff and the Vasse electorate for their support.
“I’m up to the challenge of articulating the needs of the electorate and will fight to ensure we are not shortchanged,” Ms Mettam said.
“I’m keen to work constructively – not just opposing things for the sake of it.
“My number one job is to get the best outcome for the region and I will work hard, with goodwill, to get our projects funded and to ensure growth into the future.”
