WA accounting firm RSM Australia marked its 95th anniversary having commenced its operations in 1922 and has played a pivotal role in helping Australia’s agricultural sector grow.
RSM partner Angus Smith said they established an office in Busselton in 1953 even though they had been servicing clients in the South West since before then.
“It used to be done by people who would travel from Perth, in a car on a six week trip going from farm to farm, to help farmers put their financial records together,” he said.
“We have clients in Busselton who have been with us well over 50 to 60 years.”
Mr Smith said their clients ranged from people who were starting out in business or work right through until retirement.
“It is great to see young people start a business and maybe go a bit different to the way people have done it before and actually build something quite strong,” he said.
“It is also great to see the success of Busselton, but to the extent where we have not lost our charm which drags a lot of people here.”
Mr Smith said the Busselton regional office had proudly written its own chapter into rural Australia’s growth story.
“Due to our strong technical knowledge of the complexities associated with running a farming enterprise, we’ve been instrumental in helping local farmers, agribusinesses, and primary producers find the right solutions needed to achieve their financial, operational and strategic objectives,” he said.
