Former Busselton resident Emmett Carroll will be in town this weekend with his band Carrington to launch their new EP Learning Curves.
Carrington will play at the youth centre on Friday night from 6pm (entry is $5) followed by a free gig on Saturday from 12pm at the Busselton skate park.
If you intend on heading along to the gigs expect an exciting, high-energy show from the rock-punk-alternate outfit and other support acts from Perth, which all include a member from the Busselton and Dunsborough region.
“We wanted to bring them down so they could play a show in their hometown as well,” Carroll said.
Carrington have been playing live regularly for the last six months and prior to that spent six months writing music and releasing demo songs, which Carroll said had a good response from fans.
“We decided we enjoyed doing it and wanted to play more live music,” he said.
Carroll was the City of Busselton’s youth development trainee in 2014 when he got his first taste of event management and had the opportunity to develop a band in the South West.
He said the band went on to play Groove in the Moo, and when he moved to Perth he worked on developing his own band with friends and found some further members.
“I figured I would love the opportunity to go back and play a show presented by the City of Busselton which shaped the way I approached music,” he said.
Carroll is one of five members in the rock-punk outfit and said the band were able to express their emotions better through their style of music compared to other genres like hip-hop.
“There is raw emotion that goes into punk and rock music that is lost in other genres and modern indi-rock,” he said.
Carrington’s new EP Learning Curves can be downloaded from iTunes or streamed on Spotify.
