When Colin Goyne and Margaret Read bought their Aranda block in 1968, it was on the outskirts of Canberra.

The couple met when Colin was in the army and Margaret was working at the Duntroon library. Work took them to Woomera, Queenscliff, Singapore and Germany.
After Colin served in the Vietnam War, they settled in Canberra and built a house big enough for their seven children.
Their son Brett says it was a comfortable family home filled with happy memories. Colin died 20 years ago and Margaret lived at the property for 48 years before her death in 2016.
It still bears the name of its first owners, Colmar - a combination of Colin and Margaret.

"It has a good feel about it," Brett says.
"It would be nice to see it renovated and maybe opened up."
