A GREAT tussle was battled out on Saturday between the Under 14 Division 1 GMAS Jewels and the Coasters Diamonds.
The Coasters showed their cohesive style developed over a number of years from the first quarter.
The GMAS players had trouble getting the ball into attack and turnovers were quickly converted into goals by Coasters.
Jamilla Clark put up a number of shots that could not miss and she finished with a bag of 20 goals for Coasters.
Jenna Begley and Asha Hughes supported her well despite strong GMAS defence from Annika Luff and Ella Reilly.
Luff’s long reach was beautifully presented in defence and she managed to uphold her part well for GMAS despite an injury in the last quarter.
Coasters Perri Hathaway and Jess Schwier covered a lot of court with strong leads in the centre that were hard for GMAS to defend.
Kira Wood is new to the GMAS team but brings experience to the side and played a strong centre game.
Quick, strong passes were the key to the Coasters game with the final score a win to the Coasters 48-16 in an intense battle.
This Saturday Coasters Diamonds take on Aces Hearts.
