Police have charged a 37-year-old man from Mirrabooka after the stabbing death of a pet Labrador in a Mirrabooka park on Wednesday in full view of its owner.
A 22-year-old local woman was exercising four-year-old Luna, as well as her other male dog, in a park off Apple Blossom Drive at 6pm when the alleged attack occurred.
"I made them sit then took them off their leads," she told media on Thursday afternoon.
"They saw this person and [ran over]."
After a brief interaction the woman found Luna bleeding and took her to the vet, where the dog died.
People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals Australia on Wednesday afternoon offered a reward up to $5000 for information.
Police on Thursday laid a charge of Cruelty to an Animal under the Animal Welfare Act.
The man was bailed to appear at Perth Magistrates Court on June 15.
