The Division one 12 and under netball game between Coasters Rollercoasters and Dodgers Djilyara was expected to be close with fourth place playing sixth place. From the start the Coasters showed they were going to get serious. Coasters’ passing was quick and accurate. The tight passes from Apple Shanahan in the centre to Grace Hindle then the goal shooters were impressive. Dakota Nelmes was on fire and passes to her were quickly converted to goals without pause. Nelmestook on the Dodgers defence all over the goal circle and had 21 goals by half-time.

The Dodgers lifted in the second half however strong Coasters defence around the goal circle limited the opportunities Dodgers had to pass the ball in to the attacking circle. The Dodgers limited number of close shots were not converted to goals which damaged their score line. Isabella Brown was all over the court for the Dodgers and despite some of her great intercepts Dodgers were still low on goals in the final quarter. The Dodgers Zemiliya Humphries was brilliant in defence. Her long reach challenged the Coasters mettle and Coasters had to ensure there were no wayward lobs. At the final siren it was a convincing win by Coasters 41-1. Next week there is a general bye for the Busselton Netball Association due to the Perth Netball Association Carnival. The development teams from 12 Under and up will all be participating Perth. Good luck girls.

THE Busselton Netball Association has recently hosted the No Limits program which has given a fantastic opportunity for participants with an intellectual disability to engage with the sport of netball. The clinic, run by Busselton's own State player Riley Culnane and the association's development officer Danielle Cann, gave these girls the opportunity to meet new friends and play netball in a safe environment as part of a team. This program involved a weekly training program and the chance to take part in a statewide carnival in June as part of the Smarter Than Smoking Association Championships No Limits Division. The Busselton Netball Association is hoping to run another clinic later in the season. For info email busselton.netball.secretary@gmail.com.
