POW! Negro’s debut EP is on the way and they’re celebrating with shows in both Bunbury and Dunsborough.
One of WA’s most promising up and coming acts, POW! Negro are making a name for themselves with their trailblazing live show and hard-hitting singles.
And after a solid year of activity with a number of new singles and riotous performances, the six-piece band are preparing to release their long-awaited debut EP Jasmine & Licorice.
Featuring work from producers David Kennedy and Michael Jelinek, the new record showcases the group’s eclectic style of hip-hop, jazz and psych, as well as what triple j describe as “an aggressive vocal style that falls somewhere between the energetic bounces of Zac de la Rocha and the funk-come-street verses of Mos Def.”
Having already graced stages with acts such as Remi, Sampa The Great, Koi Child and Blackalicious as well as playing coveted slots on festivals such as Groovin the Moo and Southbound, POW! will embark on a run of dates later this month to debut their new full live show.
Featuring already-available singles Hidle Ho! and Money For Portraits, both released earlier this year, the EP will be available from Bandcamp with a “pay what you wish” offer.
The band recently posted on social media that they hoped the EP would be worth the wait.
“We know this EP has taken us forever to finish, so you’ll be able to pay what you want over at Bandcamp. Thanks for being so patient with us.”
