Two people have been arrested following a string of thefts in the Busselton and Margaret River’s Central Business District.
Over the last two months there has been a series of burglaries in Busselton, with cash always the main target, though windows and doors were also smashed during the crime spree.
Tyrepower in Margaret River had its safe stolen when it was robbed on Monday July 25. The business was alarmed and had CCTV.
Three offenders were found in a park in Margaret River later that day, one was initially caught and the second was caught later in Busselton.
They have been charged with aggravated burglary.
Police are still searching for the third person, who is believed to be heading north.
The arrests came after a joint operation between the Busselton and Margaret River Police.
Officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Jason Van Der Ende said it was important for businesses to not keep any cash on their premises.
“With these types of burglaries the thieves are always after cash, if there is no cash on the premise then they will have less reason to try,” he said.
“If you see anything suspicious in your local community, contact the police or crime stoppers.”
Margaret River Senior Sergeant Brett Cassidy agreed that businesses need to take necessary precautions.
“This is unusual for Margaret River so we are happy with the outcome,” he said.
“It is important that businesses keep themselves safe by installing alarms, CCTV and taking appropriate care.

Busselton Police also charged a hungry drunk driver over the weekend. Police caught the driver on their way to Hungry Jacks at midnight on Saturday, July 22.
The car was seen driving in excess of 40 km over the speed limit, with the driver had a blood alcohol content of 0.252.
Busselton Police said the irresponsible behaviour was disappointing to see.
“We ask the community to think of themselves and others on the road and drive responsibly,” Sergeant Van Der Ende said.
“Don’t drink and drive, if you are going to drink, plan ahead and organise a designated driver.”
The driver was charged $1000 and lost seven demerit points and will face the magistrate at a later date.
