Busselton business Wise Accounting have been named finalists in five of the SMSF Advisor accounting awards for WA including firm of the year.
SMSF Adviser is a source of news, opinions and market intelligence for Australia’s self-managed super fund sector.
Along with firm of the year, Wise Accounting were also named finalists in customer service firm of the year, senior manager of the year, tax and compliance firm of the year and small business advisor of the year.
Wise Accounting director Tyler Wise said to get through as accounting firm of the year was huge for the team and they were grouped in the same category as other firms which had more than $10 million in turnover.
“We are nowhere near that, so to make it through was pretty good, we are up against some tough competition and one of the other WA finalists just won the national award,” he said.
“It is exciting but we are aware we are up against some stiff competition.”
While he was happy to be a finalist in five of the categories, Mr Wise said the big one for his team was the customer service award.
Since starting the business five years ago, Mr Wise said they had to make some tough decisions to support their own growth but believed they stood out from other firms for their ability to be nimble.
“Since day one we have been a cloud accounting firm, which no-one was really doing back in 2011,” he said.
“We are always looking for efficiencies for the client - rather than the client try to fit in with us - we try to adapt to them.
“Because we are a small team and work so closely together, we all know the client’s business so can help on the spot, hopefully that is what will separate us from them.”
Mr Wise recently went on a business trip to present how other businesses could benefit from using cloud accounting solutions in their office.
“Those sort of things help us, but the main thing is our customer service, that is the one thing we take super seriously and the award I would like to bring home the most,” he said.
Mr Wise said he did not think the firm did anything differently from other firms to receive the nominations, but liked to think that they did things better.
