The Yallingup Boardriders Club have claimed second place at last weekend’s prestigious Surf League event at Scarborough beach.
The West Australian inter-club event first started back in 1986 and this year had nine metropolitan and regional boardriding clubs competing in bowly, choppy beach breaks which was eventually won by the strong Margaret River team.
Boardriding clubs from Geraldton, Two Rocks, Trigg Point, Scarborough, Contacio, City Beach, Yallingup, Cowarmaup Bay and Margaret River choose six of their best surfers to compete in the one day event.
Margaret River showed their depth of talent and consistency throughout the final, posting a combined team total of 85.89, to secure back-to-back Surf League victories.
Yallingup had a total of 73.65 points ahead of Geraldton 70.93 in third and Cowaramup Bay 69.34 who were competing in their first Surf League.
“It's been an unbelievable day, I couldn't be happier with how they boys performed,” Margaret River's captain Andrew Sheridan said.
“I think I’ve competed in almost every one of these events and they just keep getting better.

“The waves have been tricky, but at least we had some solid swell and we’re stoked to come away with the win,” he said.
