The man accused of going on a deadly rampage down Bussell Highway in Capel in February has pleaded not guilty to a charge of murdering Geographe woman Jenni Pratt.
Shaun Southern, 46, was charged with murdering the mother-of-two after allegedly veering on to the wrong side of the highway on February 18, forcing oncoming motorists to swerve or drive their vehicles at high speed into roadside ditches to avoid a collision.
Ms Pratt, of Geographe, died at the scene and her passenger, 54-year-old Karen Williams from Busselton, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
Mr Southern, a father of two, entered a not guilty plea to a count of murder when he appeared in the Stirling Gardens Magistrate's Court by video-link from prison on Wednesday.
He also entered a not guilty plea to acts or omissions causing bodily harm to Ms Pratt's passenger.
The court was previously told Mr Southern may never be fit to stand trial because he had brain damage and was was treated at Fiona Stanley Hospital's acquired brain injury unit for a number of months after the crash.
He was medically unfit to appear at a number of scheduled court hearings.
Ms Pratt was returning from an outing with a friend when her RAV4 was hit head-on by the 4WD Mr Southern was driving. She died at the scene.
