The Busselton Magistrates Court has been told a man failed to seek legal advice on a stealing charge because he was “found in bush almost dead the other day”.
Mitchell James Thomas is accused of stealing $276 cash from the Rise and Co Bakery in West Busselton on October 15 this year.
Mr Thomas, who now lives in Esperance, told Magistrate Brian Mahon he had not received legal advice yet because of the incident.
He asked the magistrate if he would like to see his sunburn.
Mr Mahon extended Mr Thomas’ bail conditions until next year to give him time to seek legal advice after the Christmas period. He also told him he would need to enter a plea at his next appearance.
The matter was adjourned until January 23.
