BUSSELON State Emergency Services volunteer Ben Gardiner received state recognition at an awards night on Saturday.
The local man was given the youth achievement award at the annual SES Awards.
The award recognised Ben for his high level of professional skill and for his work during the June storms.
He was one of only three people to receive the top honours.
Fire and emergency service commissioner Wayne Gregson thanked the volunteers for their work.
“These award winners deserve the highest accolades possible for their hard work and commitment,” he said.
“Their commitment to providing emergency services is appreciated by all those they help.”
