The opportunity

The Silver Chain Group is a forward-thinking and innovative not-for-profit organisation with a purpose to build community capacity to optimise health and wellbeing.  Following the merger of Silver Chain (WA) and RDNS (SA), in 2011, the Group is one of the largest community care providers in Australia, assisting people across Western Australia, South Australia, New South Wales and Queensland. 

The Digital Services department delivers all Information Technology (IT) services for the Silver Chain Group spanning help desk, security, infrastructure, networking, communications, applications and analytics/reporting. It also contains standard IT functions such as vendor management and architecture capabilities. The Development and Integration team, as part of the Digital Services department, develops, supports and maintains the suite of application, system and platform integrations used across the whole of the Silver Chan Group. In addition, the team retains a development capability to develop and maintain a number of low-code/no-code applications, systems and platforms.

Key responsibilities

As a member of the Development and Integration team, the Integration Developer is responsible for the design and development of the integration layer(s) for inter-system data exchange and communications, i.e. application to application (A2A) and business to business (B2B) integration. The role will: 

  • Design and implement services using industry interoperability standards.
  • Design and development of integration services on a ‘data first’ approach.
  • Maintain data validation routines to ensure the quality and integrity of data as exposed to or consumed through the integration layer(s).
  • Develop integration applications, services (micro-services), test and promote to production.
  • Prototype ‘consumer’ apps and develop or facilitate development with mobile and web application development partners.
  • Assist with the maintenance of integration functionality that is in production.
  • Contribute to development standards and work practices.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, code comments and live API developer documentation and ‘conformance statements’.
  • Create, document, and implement test plans and scripts.
  • Actively participate in developing a positive and supportive team culture both within the Development the Integration team, as well as in the broader Digital Services department.
  • Monitor and actively ensure the incidents, service requests and demands assigned to the Integration Developer are resolved within the timelines defined by the relevant service and / or operational level agreements so that customer expectations are achieved and where possible exceeded.

 About you

  • The ability to work within and contribute to the mission and values of the Silver Chain Group.
  • Experience in building applications using .NET (C#) technologies.
  • Experience with Restful services on SQL server, with a Data First approach required.
  • Demonstrated use of Technologies: ASP.NET/.NET Core, WebAPI 2.0, MVC/MVVM patterns, C#, Linq, Dependency Injection, SQL Server, Unity, Repository and Unit of Work pattern-based service development.
  • 2-3 years of development experience of using the Azure Services (Azure API Management and Gateway, Logic APPs and API Apps. Azure Functions, Worker Roles and Web Roles, OAuth authentication, Building MVC, Razor portals on web).
  • Experience with Microservices architecture and event driven architecture.
  • Experience with Entity Framework/Dapper and ORM (Object Relational Mapping) tools.
  • Experience with TDD (Test Driven Development) / BDD (Business Driven Development), specifically any experience with nUnit, xUnit testing Frameworks and Test Patterns would be an advantage.
  • Experience using CI/CD (Continuous Integration / Continuous Deployment), specifically with Azure pipelines and YAML/BICEP based configurations would be an advantage.
  • Proactive, solutions-focused attitude with a demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to resolve issues quickly and effectively, utilising best practice methods where possible.
  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Well-developed communication (written, verbal and listening) and interpersonal skills to communicate effectively at all levels.
