IT’s not everyday a quantity of old $100 and $50 Australian banknotes are discovered in a bunch of rags and handed in to Busselton Police.
Sergeant Todd Carrington said he hoped the paper notes would be returned to their rightful owner.
“The notes are obviously part of someone’s collection,” he said.
“Whilst they are still part of legal tender they may have sentimental value so it would be nice to return them to their owner.”
Sergeant Carrington said if anyone believed the notes were theirs they could be returned but only if they could provide police with the exact location the notes were lost and could tell them the exact amount the notes add up to.
Sergeant Carrington said the notes would be held at the police station for a month before being handed in to the bank to possibly be destroyed if unclaimed.
