THE COLLIE Police and Community Youth Centre have welcomed new manager Linda Gallagher to the team.
Ms Gallagher has been at the centre for four weeks in the role of manager, and said she is looking forward to making a difference.
“I am looking forward to making a difference, ultimately that is why we are here, to make a difference,” she said. “We are looking into starting some new programs, I am very much team orientated, and about pushing the team.
“It’s about finding what people are good at, everyone is good at something. “Finding that little thing and getting them to build on it is what I am good at.”
Ms Gallagher recently moved from Katanning to Bunbury, a move which she said was for her children’s education, so they could finish off their final schooling years in Bunbury.
“It’s all new to me, but a pretty amazing experience so far,” she said.
“There are some new programs in the pipeline, we hope to get up and running soon.”
Ms Gallagher comes from a sporting management and leadership background, having captained several national shooting teams.
“I come from leading national shooting teams, since 2011 I have led 9 Australian rifle teams captaining each of them to various overseas locations," she said.
“I captioned the state team, and the national championships last year. “Each of my teams has returned with a medal of some description, including Gold at the World Championships.” “
“I still continue to compete (in shooting) for Australia, and I am heading to London in September.”
Ms Gallagher said she hopes to continue the close relationship the centre has with the police.
“Police is in our name and they are a key partner so it is very much about strengthening ties, working with them, and we can’t do what we do without them,” she said.
Ms Gallagher said the centre is looking forward to hosting the upcoming Griffin Festival in September, and cheering on their gymnastics team who will be competing in the regional competition in Bunbury.
