FOR the Wilson family, ex-Tropical Cyclone Debbie’s heavy falls did more than just wet the ground.
The rain came with joy and jubilation for two young children, who their mum said have seen far too little rain in their short lives.
Rebecca Wilson lives with her daughter Grace, 5, and son Matthew, 2, where they rent a house on a 200 hectare cattle property in the Kilcoy region.
Ms Wilson said rain is “scarce”, and she pumps out of a bore five times each week to keep a grass patch green for the kids, and to have water in the tanks.
She said thanks to the horses playing in the rain and knocking over the gauge, she is not sure how much their final rain tally was, but it was “enough to make the grass green”.
“We haven’t seen our daughter jumping in puddles since she was two,” Ms Wilson said.
“It is a breath of fresh air.”
