Busselton City take on Geographe Bay

In the anticipated derby fixture between Geographe Bay and Busselton City it looked like the reds barely had enough to field a team.

Tristan Carroll gathered his squad together and put out a competitive line up.

Early on in the game the Geographe Bay players over possessed the ball and their frustration was self-evident with each passing minute.

Jack Hall and Tommy Quell eventually began to take control of the midfield and their constant entries into the 20 yard box found Denham Harvey in some space where he calmly slotted home the first goal for the day.

This seemed to steady the Geographe Bay side which in turn resulted in some great passages of play from Ben Hodder and Oscar Balczun on the right and Levi Robinson and Dene Williams on the left.

Jack Hall had acres of space in the middle of the ground and it was not long before his fluent, silky skills opened up the Busselton City defense as he slotted the ball into the back of the net for Geographe Bay’s second goal.

Just before half time Busselton gained two more players and this certainly made for a better game, a defensive error at the back, left keeper Ali Deas exposed and Busselton City pulled one back.

As the game progressed in the second half the Geographe Bay coach thought that a calming influence was needed and Jon Snape was summoned from the bench to enter the fold with almost instant results.

A loose ball was gathered, finding himself alone, Snape noticed that the keeper was off his line and effortlessly chipped the ball over the top and into the back of the net.

Heavy rain impacted on the quality of the match as the heavens opened and the game finished with the score line being  3-1 .

Best on the day were Jack Hall, Ben Hodder, Tommy Quell and Dion Hardy.

Geographe Bay Masters also enjoyed a comfortable win of their local rivals.

The final score line was Geographe Bay Masters 5 to  Busselton City Masters 1.
