THE 2017 Smarter than Smoking Association Championships held from Saturday, June 3 to Monday, June 5 at Perth’s State Netball Centre, was represented with nine Busselton Netball Association development teams ranging with girls in 12 and under, right through to 17 and under.
This championship event hosts around 260 teams from more than 40 associations from Western Australia’s regional towns and Perth’s suburban associations, international schools and the No Limits program.
All Busselton teams played a seven-round series in their respective age groups, which consisted of shortened games, and played for ladder points.
Grand finals were held for all divisions finishing first and second on the ladder.
All Busselton squads played competitive games within their allocated division, with a few teams just narrowly missing out on grand finals by percentage.
Busselton’s 17 and under team displayed a super skilled grand final game against Mandurah, but unfortunately went down by just two goals.
All Busselton representatives showed true sportsmanship throughout the carnival and all should be very proud of their efforts, attitudes and achievements over the weekend.
The development teams conclude with attending the regional carnivals which will be held at various South West venues throughout July and August.
