THE finale of the WA School Surfing Titles is being held this Friday at Trigg Beach.
It is the largest participation based event of the year, with more than 500 secondary students competing throughout the whole state series.
Surfing WA's Justin Majeks is excited about the upcoming event.
“The School Surfing Titles are a great chance for us to engage with students who actively surf and bodyboard and are interested in developing their skills further," he said.
"Many schools now incorporate surfing into their curriculum and kids love the opportunity to head to the beach and hit the waves on a school day."
More than 50 metropolitan and regional high schools have competed this year to reach the grand final.
Students will compete in teams of two, lining up in junior and senior divisions, catering for both surfing and bodyboarding divisions.
Margaret River Senior High School will once again be the team to beat in 2017, hungry for a record 12th consecutive Champion School Title.
Margaret River's surf-academy boasts a swag of highly accomplished surfers including; Under 18 State Champions Jack Haslau and Emma Cattlin, as well swag of up and coming talent including Ben Gradisen, Jamaica Selby, Seth Van Haeften (pictured) and Finn Cox.
The winning surfing schools will qualify to compete at the Australian Junior Surfing Titles, where they'll take on the best students and schools from across the country at Culburra Beach, New South Wales in November.
