Lyndon Miles wants to see more multi use shareable facilities in the city of Busselton.
Mr Miles has lived in Busselton for the last seven years and said he loves the community spirit.
“I moved here from Queensland and after about six months I knew this was where I wanted to be,” he said.
“The community here is amazing, we knew this is where we wanted to raise a family.”
Mr Miles is involved in several volunteer groups (Jetty swim, cycling, cricket, soccer clubs and Geographe Music Group) and is also a keen cyclist.
He said he would like to help shape the direction in which the city grows, saying he wants the youth of Busselton to have access to opportunities that all Australians get whether they live in the city or regionally.
“All in all I think what has been done is fantastic, I would just like to see more shared facilities and a focus on local small businesses going forward.
“Tourism is so heavily focused on here, we need to focus on other industries as well, to see all areas of our community grow.”
Mr Miles said it was important that the council listen and work for the community.
“The role of council is to serve the community, not dictate.
“As part of my job I am always out and about talking to different people, it is so important to talk to everyone in the community and gain different perspectives.
“For our future I would like to see more city support for all groups, I would like to see more multi use recreational facilities created for all to use. We need long term planning, more engagement with youth and local groups.”
Mr Miles would like to encourage everyone in the community to vote in this council election, saying everyone should have their voice heard.
“I encourage you all to make sure you cast your vote and have a say in who you would like to see representing you on the council.”
Mr Miles said if elected it would be an honour to serve the community.
