Students at Vasse Primary School are encouraging the community to make smarter decisions when it comes to waste.
The year 4 and 5 classes are promoting BYO coffee cups as part of a sustainability project in conjunction with several local cafes.
The project was inspired by ABC's War On Waste program, with the students unhappy with how many disposable coffee cups go to waste every day.
Students working in groups to liaise with local cafes to find out if they will offer discounts to customers who BYO coffee cups.
Students then created posters for them to display in their shops with the intention of reducing landfill in our community through promoting discount coffees for BYO cups.
Around 1 billion cups are not recycled every year, with the Vasse Primary students hoping to reduce this number with their creative posters. Students worked with the following cafes; The Good Egg, More Cafe,, Hummingbird, Yahava Vasse, Everyday Gourmet WA, Urban Cafe and Mono.
