The Dunsborough School of Ballet will perform the Christmas classic The Little Nutcracker under the stars at Happs Winery on Saturday, December 2.
The ballet is based on The Nutcracker, with music by Tchaikovsky, telling the magical tale of Clara who receives a nutcracker toy from a mysterious magician at a Christmas party.
Clara and the audience are taken on a wondrous journey through swirling and dancing snowflakes to the Kingdom of the Sweets, ruled by the Sugarplum fairy.
Dunsborough School of Ballet teacher Caroline Jensen said The Little Nutcracker reflected the choreography of the original ballet.
“I have studied the ballet closely and kept to the mood of the original, changing movements to suit the younger dancers,” she said.
It is the second ballet the school has performed under the stars at Happs Winery, after they performed under the moonlight earlier this year.
“It should be a magical evening for the whole family - bring your own picnic and blanket along and relax in the beautiful gardens.”
