A group of Cape Naturaliste College students have claimed third place in a State-wide writing competition.
Write a Book in a Day is a team competition open to adults and students from Years 5 to 12.
The competition required students to plan, write and illustrate a 4000-word book in 12 hours.
Team Copywrite, formed by Year 11 and 12 students Chloe Baynes, Sharae Wind, Rhys Robinson, Misty Lakelin, Degan Haggerty and Jaimee Walke, represented the school in the senior division.
Judges praised their interesting plot and use of description.
More than 250 schools or writing groups from throughout Australia participated, with 790 teams involved.
The competition raises money for The Kids’ Cancer Project. The 2017 tally currently sits at $199782.
Books created are donated to hospitals for children. Cape Naturaliste College has participated in the competition for three years and previously won the Middle School division in 2015.
