A fundraising golf day for Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group has raised $9500 for the organisation.
The group will put the money towards a new boat.
Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group fundraising committee member Amber Lane said she was blown away by the success of their first ever golf tournament.
“We are so thankful to all the teams who took part and gave our new event a chance,” she said.
“Without them, it wouldn’t have been the success that it was.
“The generosity from local businesses has been astounding.”
Local businesses sponsored the event and donated prizes for silent auction and raffles.
Busselton Volunteer Marine Rescue Group assist with many events in the region including Busselton Jetty Swim, IronmanWA and whale rescues.
They have two vessels, a fast response boat and another rescue boat, which is located at Port Geographe Marina, and will be replaced once enough funds are raised.
The group primarily cover the Busselton area of Geographe Bay but can assist in Dunsborough and as far as Bunbury.
