In the December 5, 2007 edition of the Mail, a petition calling for Leavers to be banned in the South West made headlines. Port Geographe groyne development hit the front page and the Shire of Busselton launched new number plate designs.

In sport, Ironman WA was held with an athlete from New Caledonia taking out the competition and Busselton Tennis Club with Lorraine Thomas and Peter Supanz taking out titles.
