Fifty-year-old photos from the 1968 Festival of Busselton have resurfaced thanks to former resident Sid Breeden who took the images and is hoping to find out who he snapped.
Earlier this year, Mr Breeden found old film from the 1958 Miss Busselton Sunshine Quest that his father had taken and received an overwhelming response from the community to help him identify the women in the film.
This time, Mr Breeden has stumbled across old photos he took on his 35 millimetre camera.
One of the photos features contestants in the Fesitval of Busselton Queen entrants, the photo was taken at his parent’s home on Peel Terrace across the road from the Vasse River, next door to the Rectory.
His mother Norah Breeden is in the middle and was the 1968 Queen Mother.
“The Queen Mother from memory was their official chaperone. The sashes name is who the entrants represented,” he said.
The photos also include some of the 1968 festival highlights which took place on the Vasse River between the Causeway and Railway bridges.
“I believe for occupational, health and safety reasons (such as water quality) water contact activities are no longer allowed on the river,” he said.
Mr Breeden would like to find out who was in the photo and if anyone would like a digital copy to get in touch with him at sid.breeden@bigpond.com or phone 08 9285 1822.
