Spreading ‘pure Christmas joy’ is what the season is all about for a Busselton couple, whose lights and decorations rival Santa’s headquarters in the North Pole.
David Boyle and Tracy Smith of Dalemoor Way both simply love Christmas.
The house-proud pair keep six years worth of Christmas collectibles, figurines and toys boxed up for 10 months of the year until November, when they start to decorate their home.
The tradition of spreading festive cheer was passed on to Mr Boyle by his mother.
“My Mum loved Christmas and she would decorate her home so when she passed away to cancer it was a tradition I wanted to carry on,” he said.
“It is nice to help spread happiness – there has got to be one month a year when people can just be happy.”
Their home isn’t just lit up, there is also a Santa’s sanctuary in the garage where families and children are welcome to enter.
The pair often dress up as Santa and Mrs Claus, sometimes turning on their snow machine.
Each year, they change their display design and add a new element.
This year it is three new plush reindeer, which now lead the sleigh built by the couple.
Ms Smith said they were again anticipating big numbers of children as the school holidays arrive.
“It is just packed every year, sometimes you can’t move in the garage,” she said.
"You do see the pure joy of Christmas.
“We’ve even had a little boy who didn’t want to leave and asked if he could live here with Santa and the toys.”
