Busselton’s Woolworths customers have played a huge part in raising funds to provide more than one million meals to Australians in need.
The Woolworths OzHarvest Christmas Appeal is in full swing across the country.
Customers can purchase 50 cent meal tokens and display them within their local store.
More than 2000 tokens have already been purchased in Busselton and currently fill the stores front windows.
A new way to support the appeal was also launched in Busselton this year.
‘Santa Cookies’ are stocked on the bakery shelves this festive season, with 50 cents from every pack also raising funds for the OzHarvest Appeal.
OzHarvest WA state manager Jennifer Keen said it was heartwarming to see the community support Australians who often didn’t know where their next meal was coming from.
Woolworths Busselton Kent Street store manager Neville Smith said many customers planned to leave cookies out on Christmas Eve.
“Our Santa Cookies give families an excuse to join in the magic of Christmas, while sharing the spirit with others via the OzHarvest Appeal,” he said.
The Woolworths and OzHarvest partnership has the dual benefit of helping to feed Australians in need and redirecting surplus food from otherwise going to waste.
The appeal runs until December 24.
