Regional artists are being encouraged to submit their works in the ninth annual Boyup Brook Art Awards.
More than $3000 worth of prizes are up for grabs in a variety of categories.
Categories include works on paper, works on canvas, mixed media, textiles and sculptures.
All entries are eligible in the open prize of $1000.
Judge Carl Altmann will return to critique the entries in the 2018 awards.
Altmann said he was looking forward to returning as the judge and hoped to see the same calibre of work he witnessed in 2017.
“I look at work not names and I’m looking for work that stands out from its neighbours,” he said.
“I ask whether I’m engaged by the work – does it make me stop and think.
“It must be technically well done and go beyond an image.”
He encouraged the regions artist to submit their works.
The exhibition, organised by the Boyup Brook Community Resource Centre, also has an Indigineous award, Young Artist’s Award and People’s Choice.
The 2017 event drew more than 200 entries from 77 artists across the South West and Great Southern.
The exhibition will coincide with the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival.
Winners will be announced at the opening on Wednesday, February 14.
Entries for artwork close on Friday, February 2.
