From fashionable Frosé cocktails to sweet sangria, it is fair to say rosé is on trend around the country.
The popular pink drop will be toasted at an exclusive event on February 24 hosted by Rustico at Hay Shed Hill
Rustico Rocks Rosé will feature some of the region’s top roses, food and music.
The event, which is limited to 300 tickets, is the first of its kind from the venue and plans to emulate the event success of its sister-restaurant Rustico Tapas and Wine Bar Rockingham.
Rustico owner and event director Vanessa Phillipson said rosé had exploded in popularity over the last 12 months.
“Portugal, Spain, Italy, the entire Mediterranean have been the biggest producers and drinkers of rosé wine for many years,” she said
“Australia has a new love affair rosé, last year it was cider, this summer we have caught up with what’s popular overseas, there is increased consumption and production with stunning rosés coming out of the Margaret River wine region.
“Rosé pairs really well with food with in summer time – it is fruity, juicy with a dry finish, the perfect day time summer drink.”
Hay Shed Hill, Pitchfork, Cherubino Wines, Juniper Estate, Marq Wines and Preveli Wines will be offering their wines for tasting.
There will also be rosé Sangria, Froscato and more than 30 premium Margaret River sparkling, white and red wines on available, plus beer and cider on tap.
Rustico at Hay Shed Hill will present tapas dishes inspired by coastal Mediterranean dining, which have been designed to pair with the rosé wines.
Ms Phillipson said the region was fantastic at collaborative events and she was excited to introduce a new one to the South West social calendar.
“I’m pretty astonished by the support, the South West does collaborate very well and why wouldn’t we,” she said.
“For many years I attended Amberley Estates’ Semillon and Seafood event and I loved it, so I wanted to fill that gap.
“Gourmet Escape is in November, then there are school holidays and this is the last weekend of summer so it is a celebration to end the season.”
Entertainment will be provided by DJ Mandy Bubb and Brazilian funk band Sambalicious.
