Shelley Lee and Jules Jones have made history as the city’s first same-sex couple to be married in Busselton.
Ms Lee, Ms Jones and their wedding party arrived in fashion on the city’s newest attraction from Busselton Tram Co.
The newlyweds tied the knot in front of family and friends in a beautiful morning ceremony on the foreshore followed by a breakfast reception at Equinox Restaurant and Bar.
Brides On A Budget South West created a magical atmosphere and bouquets were by One Rustic Bloom.
Close to 90 guests gathered to witness the nuptials, with many travelling for the occasion including Ms Jones’ 90-year-old father Reg, who travelled from Melbourne to give her away.
The brides were married by close friend Tanya Gillett, who officiated the service, and celebrant Josie Arnold who legalised the proceedings.
The reception was full of love and laughter as Ms Gillett recounted their proposal story and some tales about the couple’s original vows.
The love story of Ms Lee and Jones seemed written in the stars with the pair destined to fall in love before they had even met.
The pair told the Mail they had both visited clairvoyants before they knew each other, and had received the same predictions.
“When I was younger, I was told I would meet an older person at a later stage in my life,” Ms Jones said.
“I went to a clairvoyant and they described Jules to a T – appearance, her initials, the fact she was a woman, everything,” Ms Lee said.
“They told me she wasn’t even in the same state yet, but when I met her I would know.
“The minute she walked in to the room, bang, everything they say is true, you just know – it was love at first sight.”
