A Busselton business Pindan Construction Pty Ltd is likely to be awarded a tender to design and construct the Busselton Margaret River Airport terminal.
The decision was made by the City of Busselton council after city officers recommended the company was the best valued tender.
Final terms and conditions are yet to be negotiated before the tender is awarded and a contract is signed.
If an agreement cannot be reached between the city and Pindain, the contract is likely to go to a Bunbury based company Perkins (WA).
The Busselton Margaret River airport expansion project has been made possible through $54.5 million of state government funding and $9.78 million of federal government funding.
Last year construction of the airport expansion was delayed while the state government undertook a feasibility study into the project creating uncertainty around whether the development would be completed.
It is expected passenger flights will fly directly into Busselton from the Eastern states later this year, along with cargo flights from South East Asia exporting goods out of the South West.
