A 25-year-old woman has had a lucky escape after being rescued from her sinking car by Busselton Police today.
Two officers were on patrol when they were flagged down by a member of the public on Layman Road in Geographe at 1.15pm.
The officers were informed that a Ford Falcon sedan had crashed over the edge of a retaining wall and had continued down an embankment into a body of water.
The female occupant was trapped inside as the car sank.
One officer called for assistance whilst the other officer jumped in the water and swam out to the vehicle.
The officer was able to smash the rear window of the vehicle with his baton before assisting the woman from the vehicle and to safety.
The woman received minor injuries and was treated by St John Ambulance officers.
