Sassy and sarcastic comedienne Brodi Snook will return to her hometown with her debut hour of stand-up, Babe, as part of the LiveLighter Busselton Fringe.
The St Mary MacKillop College graduate described Babe as a joke-heavy, anecdotal show that explored her experiences of growing up, moving away, relationships, aesthetics, sexism and assertiveness.
Eight years ago, at just 18, Snook took off to London on a one way ticket – a plan two years in the making after she felt she had outgrown her small town roots.
For the last three years she has honed her craft on the cut-throat club circuit around the UK.
“London is the unofficial comedy capital of the world- there’s world class stand up comedy available all over the city every night of the week,” she said.
“Performing in such an environment alongside so many talented people really makes you up your game, and there’s nothing like dying onstage for 20 minutes to silence to toughen you up.”
Despite this world-class comedic education, Snook said she considered herself to be in the apprenticeship stage of her career.
However, she did offer advice for young Busselton talent, and she didn’t sugarcoat her story.
“For anyone considering a career in comedy, I’d say set goals, work hard to meet them, do your research and be prepared to be constantly broke,” she said.
Brodi Snook will perform Babe on Friday, February 23 at The Weld Theatre from 9pm.
