The team from Rocky Ridge Brewing Co plan to open a cellar door in the heart of Busselton in the coming months offering a new and unique experience in the centre of town.
Founder Hamish Coates said they wanted to showcase their products in the best way possible and going forward would team up with Burnt Ends Smoking Co to provide food during the weekends.
“During the week we will showcase local cheeses, cured meats and small samples so people can make their own platters,” he said.
“We want to provide a small and simple cellar door to showcase our beers and our products.”
Mr Coates said they hope to initially setup the cellar door for tastings where people would be able to try the brewery’s beer and takeaway a package.
They do not envisage the venue to be a place where people would go for a session, instead people will go to try their beers.
“We are producers and we want to maintain that and it felt counter intuitive to go down the pathway [of a small bar] it is not at all what we want this place to be,” he said.
“There are plenty of other guys who do great food and have a great selection of beers on tap, we would rather be transitional, something a little bit different and unique in the centre of town.
“Everywhere else is about sit down and stay, we will be come in and try.”
The team hope that the cellar door will become a takeoff point from Busselton for winery and brewery tours throughout the region and attract people as they passed by.
Located on Marine Terrace, Mr Coates said they would also be in a good position to attract cruise ship passengers as they made their way into the town centre from the foreshore.
“At the moment there really is not anything in this central part, everything is at the other end, so we will try to fill that gap.”
When the venue is up and running Mr Coates said they would start our small only opening throughout the weekends and Mondays and close during midweek.
During summer they hope to be open more often when the tourist numbers are up.
“We want to keep everyone around us happy as well, so we will probably be an early close venue.”
