Dunsborough Primary School received a visit from Education Minister Sue Ellery last week to officially open their newly expanded administration block.
During her visit Ms Ellery said she had the opportunity, along with the Department of Educations’s infrastructure officer, to speak with the principal, staff and students at the school.
She said a number of issues were raised during her visit, including the school’s need to expand the undercover and canteen areas.
Vasse MP Libby Mettam said with 770 students at the school there was a need to expand the canteen and undercover area.
“It is clear the current canteen is grossly inadequate given the large number of lunches that are prepared on a daily basis for students and staff,” she said.
“I have previously raised this issue with the Minister so it was valuable to have the Minister at Dunsborough Primary School today to see first-hand the urgent need for this essential upgrade.
“Upgrading the undercover area and canteen will also provide a valuable additional community resource which local groups can access after school hours.
“I look forward to working with the school community and the McGowan Government to see the next stage of this project supported.”
